Outfielder George Springer has officially become a free agent.
Springer declined the Houston Astros qualifying offer of $18.9 million on Wednesday.
Springer hit .265 in 51 games played this season. He scored 37 runs while recording 14 home runs and 32 RBI in 2020.
Houston’s general manager James Click extended the offer to the 31 year-old outfielder on Nov. 1.
Springer made three consecutive All-Star appearances from 2017-19. He led the Astros to the 2017 World Series title with their win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Springer was named World Series MVP that year.
