Every few weeks the lineup of THE GAME 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles — Southwest Louisiana’s Sports Station will share a little something about themselves.
This week the team answers the question:
“What is your favorite NCAA Tournament memory-moment?”
Matt Miguez (Crunchtime Co-Host)
“My favorite moment of the NCAA Tournament thus far was watching teams like UMBC, Loyola Chicago, and St Peters go on major Cinderella runs through the tournament. One of the biggest reasons I love March Madness is because no team is safe, no matter what you’re ranked. I’ve never attended a NCAA Tournament game in person, but the idea of watching a team as a 14, 15, or 16 seed run through to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 is so much fun.”
Raymond Partsch III (RP3 & Company Host)
“To be inside the Superdome last year to watch some of the game’s greatest programs in Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Villanova battle it out in the Final Four was amazing experience. I got to be there to watch Coach K’s final game and it was against an arch rival. As for a memory that truly stands out, there are so many to choose from. I could easily go with Christian Laettner’s shot over Kentucky in the Elite 8 or Northwestern State’s Jermaine Wallace’s buzzer beater to down Iowa in the first round but it has to be Chris Webber taking the timeout against UNC in the 1993 title game. It was heartbreak for the Michigan Wolverines but that moment was seared into my memory.”
Dawson Eiserloh (RP3 & Company Producer)
“My favorite NCAA tournament memory is living in the dorms at UL. My roommates and I were huge fans and we made plenty of brackets, watched every game, and had a great time. We even ran simulations on old video games to make selections and overall just spent a ton of time invested in the tournament. It was a great time, especially with how much free time we had as freshmen in college.”
Jordy Hultberg (Jordy Hultberg Show Host)
“My favorite NCAA tournament memory came in March 1981. LSU made it to the Elite 8 and was playing a very good Wichita State team for the right to go to the Final 4 in Philadelphia. The game was in the Superdome. Over 30 thousand fans filled every seat. It was as though all of Baton Rouge was in attendance. The Shockers had no shot. We won the game and the euphoric celebration after is one I’ll never forget. The ride back to Baton Rouge afterwards was crazy. Tiger fans pulled off to the side, got out of their cars & screamed and hollered for us as we slowly but surely made our way back to campus. Never to be forgotten memories.”
James Meche (Crunchtime Co-Host)
“My favorite NCAA tournament memory goes back to 2014, the last time the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns made it. I was in 8th grade at the time and some of my teachers would ask for updates while a couple of others had the game pulled up and projected on the wall. Truly a unique experience.”
Kevin Foote (Footenotes Host)
“The 1985 NCAA Tournament finals between Villanova and Georgetown. For one, it was arguably the most well-executed game in NCAA tourney history. Two teams from the same league who shot incredible percentages against each other in like the 3rd or 4th time playing each other, but it a remarkably calm, cool, calculated fashion. It was also a great memory for me because several members of the UL men’s basketball team came to the house to watch the game with us. I went to the same church at the time with one of them and several of his teammates came with him. They then had a little dunk contest on my basketball goal after the great game, so that made it even more cool at the time.”
