Every few weeks the lineup of THE GAME 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles — Southwest Louisiana’s Sports Station will share a little something about themselves.
This week the team answers the question:
“What was your first college football game?”
Hannah Five Names (Morning Producer)
“My first college football game was during my childhood. My brothers being in scouts led us to go to multiple New Orleans Bowls one of them that I remember was December 17th, 2011 Louisiana vs San Diego State where we won 32-30. My brother and I were in cheer at that point so he showed up on the San Diego Dance Team when he did a split better than the girls did. Yet, couldn’t tell you a single play that happened in the game.”
Matt Miguez (Host of Crunchtime with Miguez & Meche)
“My first college football game was LSU vs North Texas in 2006 at Tiger Stadium. A family friend of ours gave us his season tickets for that game and my parents brought us to our first game. The thing that I remember the most was after the game, when we were leaving. The stadium workers were moving a mile a minute getting things set up again because the Saints played there the next day. Wild experience for sure.”
Clint Domingue (Host of Under the Dome)
“The first college football game I can remember was when the then-USL Ragin’ Cajuns taking on Texas A&M in 1996. That game was one the biggest moment in the program’s history and when the fans stormed Cajun Field it was an experience. Never have seen an atmosphere like that since be it college or pro.”
Raymond Partsch III (Host of RP3 & Company)
“The first college football game I went to was an Oklahoma at Alabama game back in 2003. The Sooners were a national title contender and ranked No. 1 in the country (at least in one of the polls) as they beat a so-so Alabama team 20-13 in Tuscaloosa. Jason White — who would go to win the Heisman that year — threw a couple of long touchdowns and the Sooners faked a punt too. It was the first time I sat in a stadium with 100,000 people for a game. It was great to watch two traditional powers like that.”
Jordy Hultberg (Host of The Jordy Hultberg Show)
“My first college football game was in 1969. It was an Auburn at LSU game. Day game. Andy Hamilton caught a long halfback pass from Jimmy Gilbert. Tommy Casanova played on both offense & defense. The Tigers blocked an extra point to win it 21-20 (how ironic considering LSU’ loss to FSU in this year’s season opener).”
James Meche (Afternoon Shows Producer)
“If we are being technical, my first college football experience was when I was about six months old going to an LSU game. Now if we’re talking the first college football game that I remember, it would be 2012 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns vs WKU. The final score was 31-27. Quarterback Terrence Broadway ran it in himself for the winning touchdown late and after he scored I went to the edge of the stands to tell him “Way to go” and fist pumped his shoulder pad. 10/10 experience.”
Kevin Foote (Host of Footenotes)
“I had been to others before with my parents, but the first one I actually remember was a 19-14 loss to Pacific (with Pete Carroll on the coaching staff) and it was either in 1975 or 1976. My name was picked on the Augie Tammariello Show, so I got to stand on the sideline with the team. I wore my Nat Durant No. 6 jersey but it didn’t produce a win.”
