Getting swept in a conference series is always going to be a bad thing, no matter what team it is. Losing the way LSU did over the weekend in Columbia, South Carolina was concerning.
Offense: C-
The Tigers offense was the first thing that will undoubtedly stick out, batting a paltry .198 in the series. You add that to the poor pitching efforts, which we’ll get to, it was a bad weekend for LSU at the plate.
Infield Defense: C-
Another weekend series, another less than stellar defensive performance, including the obiligatory passed ball scoring a run. That being said, it wasn’t a make or break type situation like it was back in the series against Vanderbilt.
Outfield Defense: C-
Nothing spectacular by the Tigers outfield to really bump the grade up.
Weekend Rotation: C-
Outside of Nick Bush’s performance on Sunday afternoon, the weekend rotation may have been the worst it has ever been. Hess and Hilliard have been good to great the last few weeks, but it looked like the wheels fell completely off in their starts
Bullpen: D-
The bullpen didn’t fare much better, sending some of these games into a tailspin, especially when it came to the loss on Sunday.
Overall: D+
