The Saints are not doing their 2015 first round pick Andrus Peat any favors as they move him all over the offensive line this preseason. It is now well documented that the Saints’ right side of the offensive line is BOOTY. Andrus Peat is the presumed starting right guard even though he was drafted as a highly rated (by the Saints that is) offensive tackle. Yet, this preseason Andrus Peat has barely been in that right guard spot and has played all over the field looking dazed , confused, and unsettled.
The Saints need to help Andrus Peat out and PICK A DAMN POSITION FOR HIM AND LET HIM STAY THERE. Sure it’s great to be versatile, but if this Saints O-Line is going to keep Drew Brees from getting massacred there needs to be cohesion. If Peat is not at right guard the entire time he plays in this third preseason game, the Saints could do irreparable damage to their 2016 offensive line.
NFL veteran Eben Britton joined me this morning and spoke about how tough it is to learn a new position on the offensive line, let alone switch positions multiple times over the course of one preseason. Check this out and get some fantastic insight on just how tough Sean Payton and the Saints are making it on young Andrus Peat.
