High Powered Offense Propels LSU to 11-3 Win Over Tennessee

Posted by clintdomingue on May 14, 2016 in Latest News

The LSU Tigers wasted very little time getting points on the board, and were able to come away with a big 11-3 win over Tennessee (26-25, 7-19 SEC)

Kramer Robertson got things going for LSU in the top of the first with a single to right field that allowed Antoine Duplantis to score. The Tigers would proceed to get five more runs across in the inning to make it 6-0 early.

Jordan Romero clobbered one to left field in the top of the second to increase the already sizable lead for LSU to 7-0. Jake Fraley got another one across in the top of the third with a single and Duplantis capitalized on an error by the centerfielder to reach home safely.

The Volunteers finally got on the board in the bottom of the third when Senzel grounded out the third base to get Leftridge to score. But Fraley struck again in the bottom of the fifth with a sac fly that allowed Greg Deichmann to begin to put the game out of reach.

Tennessee continued to try and make it a close game when Leftridge scored on a wild pitch, but the Tigers lead proved to be too much for the Vols to overcome.

Jared Poche improved to 6-4 on the year allowing two runs off eight hits, walked two, and struck out three batters on the night.

The Tigers (35-16, 16-10 SEC) will try to sweep the Volunteers on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
