Holden and Choudrant are no strangers to the winner’s circle as Holden has won five straight Class B softball state titles, while Choudrant repeated as the baseball champion.
So, it comes as no surprise that the two schools swept top honors on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class B all-state softball and baseball squads.
Holden junior Taylor Douglas repeated as the Class B Outstanding Player for softball. She finished with a .581 batting average with 20 homers and 51 RBIs. She was 25-8 in the circle, recording 194 strikeouts.
Junior pitcher Landon Hennen was selected as the Class B Outstanding Player for baseball. He was 8-1 record with a 1.70 earned run average and also had 32 RBIs with a .404 batting average.
First-year head coach Raven Andrews was voted Class B Coach of the Year after guiding Holden to another championship.
Choudrant sent out retiring head coach Tony Antley with back-to-back championships. The veteran coach also was chosen by the LSWA as Coach of the Year.
Teammate Bryce McGuire, another junior pitcher with an 8-1 mark, joined Hennen as a member of the all-state squad.
Douglas had two teammates — Gracie Duffy and Raievah Craddock — named to the squad as well. They batted .450 and .464, respectfully.
