Houston Astros Notebook: Team Wins Sixth Straight, Grienke Shines, Alvarez Back to IL

The Houston Astros had plenty to celebrate on Tuesday afternoon. For starters, getting their sixth straight win against one of the premier teams out of the NL West in the Colorado Rockies.

A lot of the praise needs to be thrown on Zack Grienke for possibly his best performance in an Astros uniform, throwing eight shutout innings and striking out seven on the afternoon. However, the Astros offense couldn’t get ducks on the pond as both teams couldn’t score in the first nine innings.

After an RBI single from Raimel Tapia gave the Rockies the lead, Kyle Tucker got Alex Bregman across home plate with a sac fly to center field. Andre Scrubb left runners on second and third stranded after a pair of strikeouts.

Houston capitalized on a bases loaded opportunity after a leadoff walk and a single from Garrett Stubbs courtesy of a well-hit walkoff single from Myles Straw to score Correa and take both games from the Rockies at Minute Maid.

However, the Astros did get a bit of bad news on Tuesday with the announcement that Yordan Alvarez is back on the injured list. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year returned to the team on Friday, but was scratched from Sunday’s matchup against the Mariners due to knee soreness. After undergoing an MRI, it was decided that he would be sat down to make sure he’s ready for the stretch.
