Into the Fire: 30 in 30

There is a lot of speculation and innuendo about what will be the hottest take of the week this week. Will I go deep into the issues affecting Ragin’ Cajuns football as new conference formats were announced in the Sun Belt this week? Will there be even hotter takes on the SEC Tournament than we’ve already had? Can I resist the temptation to talk even more hockey as the Pittsburgh Penguins make it to their 2nd Stanley Cup Final in a row? The answer to all of these questions is a big “no.” This week’s hottest take is 30 years in the making.

We are a big family here at Delta Media Corp, and the other day in the hall I was talking to my close personal long-time dear good friend Joe Dupree of Z 105.9’s early morning praise party, and he told me hat he is counting down the 50 craziest things he has lived through for the 50 days leading up to his own 50th birthday. Now, I am not one of those people who celebrates their own birthday, let alone talk about it on the radio; but dammit if that’s not a great idea for a radio gimmick (so sue me!). I turn a nice round number just like goodbrother Joe on Tuesday, so in honor of my own 30 years on this planet, here is 30 in 30; 30 things in the world of sports and entertainment…..and the world, that I have witnessed during my time here on Earth.

I’ve seen John Cena win the world championship.

I’ve seen the 2 most iconic curses in baseball, the Billy Goat and the Curse of the Bambino broken.

I’ve seen John Cena win the world championship.

I’ve seen Sidney Crosby live up to all of the hype of being the next great won by getting to 4 Stanley Cup Finals.

I’ve seen John Cena win the world championship.

I’ve seen Tony Stewart accidentally kill a guy on the track.

I’ve seen John Cena win the world championship.

I’ve seen horse win three races in a row and earn the Triple Crown.
