Recently, the UFC Twitter account posed the question: “Does a win at #UFC226 earn @DC_MMA GOAT status?” This triggered a certain suspended, disgraced, failure as champion fighter who took instant exception to the UFC hyping up July 7th super-fight this way. Jon Jones responded to the company’s Tweet with a few of his own, but before we go into what that bozo said, I will answer the UFC’s question: yes Daniel Cormier will become the GREATEST OF ALL TIME in the UFC if he beats Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight title at UFC 226. No Heavyweight has simultaneously been the Light Heavyweight champion and more importantly, a Heavyweight has yet to dethrone Stipe Miocic, because contrary to what Jon Jones will tell you, currently, Stipe Miocic is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME in the UFC.
Stipe Miocic holds the record for the most successful title defenses in the Heavyweight division. Stipe Miocic has carried himself as a tremendous champion as well. Miocic keeps his nose clean but speaks his mind. Miocic is a stellar citizen and representative of the sport. Just like Daniel Cormier, Miocic is a role model and a jam up guy the UFC and fight fans can be proud of. This is why July 7th’s super-fight in Las Vegas is so important; it pits two of the UFC’s all-time greats in and out of the Octagon in a fight for gold. With DC’s impeccable resume and Miocic’s historic run as champion, there is no doubt that the winner of this fight will go down as the “G.O.A.T.”
Now back to Jon Jones who did what Jon Jones does best which is make himslef look very immature and dumb in public. Jon Jones is without a doubt one of the most talented humans to ever compete in Mixed Martial Arts. Nobody is questioning his talent. But to be the G.O.A.T. you not only need to become a champion, you need to stay the champion and you need to carry yourself like a champion. Jon Jones was great at becoming champion. He was piss poor at staying champion and even worse at carrying himself like a champion. This is what angers MMA fans about Jon Jones and it looks like he is either still not aware of how immature he has been or, even worse, he just does not give a damn.
Jones responded to the UFC’s “G.O.A.T.” Tweet by saying “what have you done for me lately…let’s just be real and stop asking the question.” Jon Jones did beat DC twice. You can’t take that away from him. But it takes more than a couple of wins over one guy to call yourself the G.O.A.T. or the “mother****ing man” as Jones did in another Tweet. Daniel Cormier could make history on July 7th and there is no doubt in anyone’s mind who follows the sport that DC would carry that accomplishment admirably and respectfully, because unlike Jon Jones lately, DC has represented MMA and helped grow the sport like a dignified ambassador. All Jon Jones has done lately is hold the sport back by acting like an immature jerk who gets arrested and can’t pass a drug test. Jones finally Tweeted: “Man, I can’t wait to get my job back and slap somebody.” That’s funny because even with how much of a jagoff you are Jon, MMA fans can’t wait for you to get your job back so you can hopefully be the champion you think you are. Until then, we will celebrate two legit G.O.A.T’s going at it on July 7th at UFC 226.
