It should come as no surprise that LSU’s Jared Poche was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week.
The senior pitcher earned the award after throwing the first no-hitter for LSU since 1979. Poche also had four strikes on the afternoon and did not walk anyone in the 6-0 victory over Army. The only player to reach a base was off of a fielding error in the top of the fourth.
In other weekly awards news for SEC baseball, Ryan Olenek from Ole Miss who hit two doubles in the sweep of East Carolina University was named player of the week. Texas A&M’s Braden Shewmake was named freshman of the week after going three-for-five, one double and four RBIs in his first career game.
