Hours before LSU opens up their stay in the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, the university announced that Javonte Smart was cleared to play against the Florida Gators.
Smart was held out of the regular season finale “out of an abundance of caution in cooperation with the NCAA” according to the release that LSU put out.
The release also mentions that the freshman guard has fully cooperated in a joint inquiry with LSU and the NCAA following reports of wiretapped conversations involving Will Wade.
Smart’s return to the court could be huge in LSU’s quarterfinal matchup as he has been solid all season, averaging 11.5 points and 2.5 assists per game.
