After a successful weekend in Austin, Texas the fourth-ranked LSU Tigers received some honors on Monday with Joe Burrow and Cade York being named SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the week, respectively.
Burrow is coming off of a phenomenal performance against Texas, completing 31-of-39 passes for a career-best 471 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. In the victory, Burrow set career-highs for completions with 31 and total offense with 479 yards as the Tigers beat a Top 10 non-conference opponent in a road game for the first time in school history.
York showed that he was ready for the big moments on Saturday when he connected on field goals of 36, 33 and 40 yards against the Longhorns to remain perfect on field goal attempts this season. York has made all five of his field goal attempts in 2019 and is also 11-of-11 on extra-points.
This is the second time this season that Burrow has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa in week one.
