John Bel Edwards increases high school football attendance to 50% capacity

Governor John Bel Edwards announced Thursday outdoor high school football stadiums will be allowed to have 50 percent capacity.

Stadiums can start having 50 percent capacity in some parishes on Oct. 23.

Twenty six parishes qualify for the attendance increase:

  • Assumption
  • Avoyelles
  • Catahoula
  • East Baton Rouge
  • East Feliciana
  • Evangeline
  • Grant
  • Iberia
  • Iberville
  • Jefferson
  • Lafayette
  • Madison
  • Orleans
  • Rapides
  • St. Bernard
  • St. Charles
  • St. James
  • St. John the Baptist
  • St. Landry
  • St. Martin
  • St. Mary
  • St. Tammany
  • Terrebonne
  • Vermilion
  • West Feliciana
  • Winn

The governor said these parishes meet the requirement of a testing positivity rate of 5 percent or less for the last two weeks.
