Jordan Brown will need to make some room on his trophy shelf.
The junior from Roseville, CA has been named the Lou Henson Award winner, given every year to the best player in a mid-major conference by College Insider. Brown is the first Ragin Cajun and the first player from the Sun Belt Conference to win the award.
Brown led the team in scoring and rebounding at 19.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while being named All-SBC, first-team All-Region, and the Most Outstanding Player at the Sun Belt Tournament earlier this month. He had 16 points and seven rebounds in the season finale against Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament.
“Jordan’s made a big impact on our program over the last two years,” said Louisiana head coach Bob Marlin.ย “He’s a guy that deserves all the accolades he gets.ย Jordan was such a different player in his second year, showing a different level of maturity and leadership, and I couldn’t be more excited for him and his future.”
The Lou Henson Award is named for the famed college basketball coach that brought both Illinois and New Mexico State to the Final Four in his 41 seasons of coaching. He is also the winningest coach in the history of both programs.
