The New Orleans Saints have released embattled outside linebacker Junior Galette.
This comes less than one year after signing a lucrative contract extension that would guarantee his long-term future with the Saints.
Galette told reporters last month that he was scheduled to meet with NFL officials concerning his January arrest for domestic violence. Not long after, a video surfaced of Galette striking a woman with a belt in 2013. The video was sent to the league office which was already investigating the aforementioned arrest.
Galette spent all of his five years in the NFL with the Saints. Galette missed most of organized team activities and all of minicamp with a pectoral injury. He decided to rest and rehab the injury instead of undergoing surgery. Saints head coach Sean Payton stated that he expected him to be ready for training camp.
