Louisiana Ragin Cajuns pitcher Sam Landry has been named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Landry was a crucial piece in the Cajuns’ 5-0 week, starting with five innings of relief in the win over McNeese on Wednesday before allowing just three this on Friday against ULM in 4.2 innings after a four-run third frame.
Saturday’s contest was another great outing as she pitched a one-hit, complete game shutout of the Warhawks as Louisiana captured the regular season Sun Belt title before adding three more scoreless innings in the series finale on Sunday.
On the week, the Mont Belvieu, Texas native pitched 20.1 innings, giving up just three runs, 11 hits, and a .162 batting average.
Landry now has 20 wins on the season, tying her career high fro her freshman season with 11 victories coming in conference play. She is now 30-2 in SBC play.
This is the third POTW award of Landry’s 2024 season and her seventh in her career.
The Cauns return to Lamson Park to host Troy in the final weekend of the regular season. First pitch from Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park is set for 6:00 Thursday night to start the series.
