The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns had 10 players selected to the Phil Steele Preseason SBC Team, the publication announced on Wednesday.

Jordan Lawson and Tyree Skipper were First Team Selections, while Zylan Perry and Shelton Sampson Jr were on the second team. Jax Harrington and Carter Milliron made the Third Team with Caden Jensen, Bryant Williams, and Nathan Torney all receiving Fourth Team recognition.

Lawson returns as one of the top defensive linemen in the conference. He finished his junior season with 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.

Skipper enjoyed a breakout season last year before it was cut short due to injury. He had four interceptions with 31 tackles as a junior.

Perry enjoyed his best season as a rusher last year, totaling 695 yards and four touchdowns. In addition to being recognized as a Second Team selection at running back, Perry also received Fourth Team honors as a return man.

Sampson Jr is set to make his Cajuns debut this fall. The former LSU receiver was a standout at the high school level and is expected to make an immediate impact on the outside for Louisiana.

Harrington is one of the most experienced offensive lineman in the country. He has been chosen to represent the team at SBC Media Days in New Orleans, and is expected to anchor the Cajuns’ offensive line this season.

Milliron returns at the long snapper position for the Cajuns this year. A year ago, he helped contribute to the success of Lou Groza Award winner Kenneth Almendares during his historic kicking season.

Jensen returns to the tight end room as the most experienced Cajun at that spot. He had 138 receiving yards with two touchdowns last season and also plays an important role as a blocker in the running game.

Williams returns to help Harrington on the offensive line. The 6’7 tackle has been a mainstay at that spot and looks to help lead the way in the running game this season.

Lastly, Torney returns at punter for the Cajuns. He averaged just over 39 yards per punt with a long of 54 in his first season with Louisiana.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns begin the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30th inside the newly renovated Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium. Kickoff against the Rice Owls is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
