EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball continued its 2025 trend of late game theatrics, winning their regular season finale 6-5 against Delgado CC in extra inning walk-off fashion on Sunday. Tyson LeBlanc capped off his sophomore season with a walk-off winner in the final home game of the season.
LeBlanc and the Bengals found themselves in a one-run hole in the tenth inning after Delgado hit a solo home run, one of three Dolphin long balls on the day. Tyler Mitchell and Cash Riley III would hit singles to put the tying and winning runs on the basepaths. Blaise Blancher helped tie the game up after a hot-shot groundball to first base resulted in one of three Delgado errors, helping Mitchell score.
Aidan Mouton was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Tyson LeBlanc sent a towering fly ball that would sail over the left fielder’s head, scoring Riley and setting off a celebration on the infield.
That closed the book on a back-and-forth afternoon between the two top teams in the LCCAC. LSUE would storm out of the gates early with a pair of first inning runs off base hits by Ashton Fuselier and Milan Obradovich. The Bengals offense would stall, allowing Delgado to push ahead to take a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning.
The Bengals would respond thanks to the speedster Mitchell manufacturing a run on his own. After walking, the freshman would steal second and third, scoring off an error on the throw to third base. LSUE would leave the bases loaded in the inning but would get the go ahead run an inning later off a towering solo home run from Jackson Legg.
Delgado would send the game to extra innings with a solo home run of its own in the eighth inning.
Legg was one of four Bengals to produce multiple hits in the game, joined by Mouton, Obradovich, and Mitchell.
The LSU Eunice pitching staff would compile 14 strikeouts in the game, including seven from starting pitcher Will Mabry. Caden Tarango grabbed his ninth win of the season, coming in relief for the first time this spring. Tarango tallied five punchouts in his 3 innings of work while not issuing a free pass. Reese Ashworth and McCray Jacobs also saw time on the mound.
The Bengals turn their attention to the NJCAA Division I Region 23 Tournament next weekend. The four-team, double elimination tournament will be hosted by Baton Rouge CC at Denham Springs HS. LSUE will take on Baton Rouge in the first round on Saturday, May 3 with a 1:00PM start time.
