Moving Nick Lee to the midweek role had been talked about since April. The sophomore pitcher seemed to be going through a slump the last few weeks, but Wednesday night saw a return to form for him as the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (30-19-1, 14-9-1 Sun Belt) took down McNeese State (31-15) by the score of 4-1.
Steven Sensley got the Cajuns on the board early with a two-run triple to right center field in the first. Later in the inning, Joe Robbins made it 3-0 after he grounded out to get Sensley home safely.
There were a couple of scares early on, but Lee was able to keep the game in control and Handsome Monica put a little more insurance in the bottom of the fourth. He grounded into a double play, but Brad Antchak was able to reach home plate.
Lee improved to 6-4 on the season allowing one run off of six hits. The sophomore walked four and struck out six in seven innings of work.
Dylan Moore faced the minimum in two innings of work and struck out three to record his 10th save of the season.
The Cajuns will stay inside the friendly confines of the Tigue for a three-game series against Texas State (24-25, 10-14 Sun Belt) with first pitch set for 6 pm.
