Cajuns Softball racked up another national honor for their stellar 2015 season.
Lexie Elkins is the recipient of the 2015 Diamond Sports Division I Catcher of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The Victoria, Texas generated a school-record 32 home runs during the 2015 season, which led the nation on all levels of college softball and was second on the NCAA all-division season list.
The senior also led the nation in RBI per game (1.54), recording 83 RBIs on the year joining Christi Orgeron as the only players to reach 80 RBIs in a single season.
Elkins is the first in Cajuns softball history and the first in the Sun Belt Conference to receive this award. Elkins joins LSU’s Killian Roessner, who received the honor in 2007, as the only players from a Louisiana school to win the award..
