SULPHUR — The Beau Chene Lady Gators were unable to overcome an early deficit. No. 10 Franklin Parish scored three runs in the first and never looked back in a 8-1 victory over No. 6 Beau Chene in the Class 4A semifinal on Friday at Frasch Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
With one out in the first, Franklin Parish strung together back-to-back singles, a double and then another single to score three runs in the frame.
Franklin Parish added another run in the top of the second as a sacrifice by Ashyln Rodgers.
The Lady Patriots then blew the game wide open in the fourth inning, as Carlie Emfinger hit a three-run home run. Franklin Parish added one more run in the fifth.
Beau Chene had an opportunity to get back in the game in the bottom of the third.
Champagne drew a leadoff walk and was joined on the base paths by Chloe Bonvillian who hit a double into left-center field. Gabriella Angelle tried to lay down a sacrfrice bunt but it resulted in a double play instead.
The Lady Gators did manage to plate a run in the bottom of the seventh. Champagne reached on a two-out error and then scored on a double by Bonvillian.
BIG NUMBER: 12
Franklin Parish recorded a dozen hits off Beau Chene’s two pitchers, including having four hitters with at least two hits apiece.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: CARLIE EMFINGER
Emfinger went 3-for-3 with two singles, one home run with four RBI in the victory.
UP NEXT: Franklin Parish will play the winner of North DeSoto-Eunice High in Saturday’s Class 4A championship game. First pitch is schedule for 4 p.m.
