The University of Louisiana has announced a new partnership with local marketing company brandRusso to create NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) opportunities for Louisiana student-athletes, announced in a press release today by the University.
Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard said in a statement: “As the NIL space continues to evolve and become more competitive, we knew it was important to educate our student-athletes while assisting them with personal brand development and management. With ULtra, we have created a platform that will leverage ties within the local community to provide NIL opportunities for our student-athletes. I am grateful to brandRusso for their support and expertise as we start this exciting new program for Louisiana Athletics.”
ULtra is an acronym, standing for University Lucrative Training Resources Advantage. This new initiative will help student-athletes build their own brand, with training and education to help them reach their goals. BrandRusso will come in with marketing representatives to help student-athletes with branding and to build strategies to promote their brands. This will include everything from social media education to financial literacy courses.
According to the statement, this will set up Ragin Cajun athletes for life after graduation. Also, Louisiana Athletics will continue to find new methods and partnerships that will put the student-athletes in the best positions in the NIL space.
