The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (18-6, 5-1 Sun Belt) pitching staff continues to show how good they can be on Sunday afternoon, throwing their fourth straight shutout ballgame against Appalachian State (12-14, 2-4 Sun Belt), winning 7-0 to complete the series sweep.
The Cajuns were able to get on the board early off of a fielding error by Haley Stewart, allowing Kara Gremillion to reach home safely. Kara’s sister, Kourtney joined in on the fun in the bottom of the second when she lifted one out to left field to make it 2-0.
Louisiana was able to make it 4-0 in the third with an RBI double by Casidy Chaumont followed by another fielding error by the Mountaineers to get Chaumont home. Lexie Comeaux put the finishing touches on the series sweep in the fifth when she hit a two-run home run out to left field.
Summer Ellyson improved to 8-3 on the year allowing two hits and struck out four in four innings of work.
The Cajuns will travel up to Troy, Alabama for a three game set against the Trojans starting with a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
