Louisiana Crushed by Arkansas State

Posted by clintdomingue on March 30, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (11-15, 2-6 Sun Belt) Friday night was far from good with Arkansas State (11-12, 3-5 Sun Belt) putting up 14 runs en route to a one-sided 14-2 ballgame.

How It Happened

The Cajuns got on the board first when Kennon Fontenot scored off of a groundout by Zach LaFleur in the top of the second. However, that was the lone lead that the Cajuns had on Friday with the Red Wolves tying things up with an RBI single by Casey Vaughn.

Things started to go off the rails in the bottom of the third with Arkansas State hitting four runs with Kyle MacDonald starting it off with a two-run double out to right center.

After Daniel Lahare hit a solo shot out to right field to make it 7-2, the Red Wolves put the final nail in the Cajuns coffin in the sixth with an RBI single by Jeremy Brown. They then added insult to injury with a six-run inning capped off by a three run double by Tobias Johnson.

Nick Lee dropped to 1-3 on the season allowing eight runs, six of which were earned, off of ten hits. The sophomore walked three and struck out three in six innings of work.

Big Number: 3

The Cajuns underperformed in several aspects and having three defensive errors, while not the primary reason for the crushing loss it certainly did not help them out.
