Louisiana Edges Past North Florida

Posted by clintdomingue on February 23, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

It wasn’t pretty, but the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (9-2) were able to come away with an 8-6 victory over North Florida (7-7) thanks to a big first inning offensively.

Things started out less than ideal for the Cajuns with North Florida getting three runs across int the first thanks to a triple from Tiffany Lower. However, the Cajuns responded with a six runs in the bottom frame, capped off by a two-run single from Beth Ashley to make it 6-3.

The Ospreys responded in the fourth with an RBI single to cut the lead down to two runs, but the Cajuns made it 8-4 with two more runs coming across in the bottom of the fourth. North Florida wasn’t about to go away though as they scratched two runs across in the seventh. However, Becca Enter struck out looking to clinch the win for the Cajuns.

Casey Dixon improved to 2-0 on the year allowing four runs off of six hits, walked two, and struck out two in four innings of work. Kylee Jo Trahan got her second save of the season, allowing two runs off three hits, walked four and struck out four in three innings.

The Cajuns will have a pair of matchups on Saturday against North Florida at 2 pm and UMBC at 7 pm as part of the Louisiana Classics.
