Highlighted by an exciting road season opener and six games at Cajun Field, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Football officially announced their full 2021 schedule on Monday afternoon.
Four of the Ragin’ Cajuns’ six home games will be played on Saturdays, with two nationally televised midweek contests at Cajun Field during the 2021 season on Tuesday, Oct. 12, against Appalachian State and Thursday, Nov. 4, against Georgia State.
The 2021 campaign will officially kick off on Saturday, Sept. 4, when Louisiana travels to Austin to take on Texas. This will be the second-straight season the Ragin’ Cajuns have opened a season against a Big 12 Conference opponent after the squad beat No. 23 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, 31-14, on Sept. 12, 2020.
Following the road opener, the team returns home for two-straight Saturday non-conference contests against Nicholls State (Sept. 11) and Ohio (Sept. 18).
Louisiana begins Sun Belt play with back-to-back road Saturday matchups at Georgia Southern (Sept. 25) and at South Alabama (Oct. 2), before returning to Cajun Field for its league home opener against Appalachian State (Oct. 12).
Nine days after the showdown with the Mountaineers, the Ragin’ Cajuns will play their third midweek game of the season as they head north to take on Arkansas State on Thursday, Oct. 21, in Jonesboro.
Texas State then comes to town on Saturday, Oct. 30, to cap off the month of October, and that matchup is quickly followed by a cross-division home meeting with Georgia State on Thursday, Nov. 4.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will travel to Troy for the first time since the 2018 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 13, before trekking to Lynchburg, Virginia, on Saturday, Nov. 20, to close out its road slate and non-conference play with a return trip to Liberty.
Louisiana will conclude the regular season against ULM on Saturday, Nov. 27; the fourth consecutive season the Ragin’ Cajuns will end the year with the Warhawks.
