The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns will be playing their second of three nationally televised contests under the lights of Cajun Field as their October 21 matchup with Georgia State has been elevated to ESPNU.
The decision comes after Louisiana defeated Texas State 34-30 on Saturday at Cajun Field in a game played on ESPNU. In the contest, the Cajuns had 423 yards of total offense, scored 13 points in the final six minutes, and sealed the game with a blocked punt and a fumble recovery.
Now, Michael Desormeaux and the Cajuns will welcome Marcus Carroll and the Georgia State Panthers for homecoming, as the Panthers have one of the top rushing attacks in the nation.
Homecoming for the Cajuns has almost exclusively been played at 4:00 p.m., but ESPN has decided to place the game in one of its primetime spots next Saturday when Louisiana is fresh off its bye week.
The Panthers currently sit at 4-1 on the season, with a 28-7 loss to Troy being their last game on September 30. This Saturday, they’ll battle Marshall at Center Parc Stadium for the Panthers’ homecoming.
The Cajuns, 4-2 on the season, head into their bye week with plenty of momentum before returning for this matchup with Shawn Elliott’s team. Regardless of the outcome between Marshall and Georgia State, the matchup at Cajun Field will be a highly entertaining one with plenty on the line for both programs in terms of their Sun Belt standing.
