The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (8-2) went up to Ruston and after the first half looked poise to run away with a win against Louisiana Tech (7-3). The Bulldogs did fight back late, but it wasn’t quite enough with the Cajuns coming away with a 75-71 victory.
It was all Cajuns from the outset, starting out fast with a 16-6 run in the opening seven minutes of the first half. Louisiana continued to hold a double digit lead much of the first half, and took a 38-25 lead into the break thanks to a solid three-pointer from Bryce Washington. However, even with a decent lead, head coach Bob Marlin mentioned that the lead could’ve been bigger if not for some things that fell wrong.
The Cajuns kept their lead around ten points for much of the second half until the Bulldogs went on an 11-2 run late to make a three-point deficit. JaKeenan Gant wound up being the deciding factor when he made a layup with 16 seconds left to make it a four point lead.
The Cajuns will return to the Cajundome on Saturday when they host the UNO Privateers with tipoff set for 7 pm.
