It wasn’t a pretty start on Tuesday night for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (9-2), but they were able to take advantage of the Southeastern Louisiana Lions’ (6-5) mistakes to come away with an 82-74 victory.
The Cajuns got off to a slow start, giving the Lions a chance to get out to a seven-point lead with 13:27 left in the first half. Southeastern got out to as much as a 13-point lead, but the Cajuns went on a 17-0 run to take a 31-29 lead into the break.
The Lions kept it competitive throughout the second half, but the Cajuns started to slam the door shut when Malik Marquetti put the game out of reach courtesy of a big dunk with 3:55 left in the ballgame.
The Cajuns will wrap up their non-conference schedule on Friday when they travel to South Carolina to take on the Clemson Tigers (10-1) with tipoff set for 2 pm.
