Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Blank Sam Houston State

Posted by clintdomingue on February 24, 2017 in Latest News

Cajuns

Gunner Leger looked to find his footing again after a rough start to the season against Murray State. He did just that on Friday night and looked great doing it.

He was able to even up his record at 1-1 with six shutout innings and striking out six as he led the Cajuns (2-2) to a 2-0 victory over Sam Houston State (2-3).

The first score came in the top of the second when the bases were loaded and Brenn Conrad was hit by a pitch.

Sam Houston State came close to scoring on multiple occasions, but some solid defensive efforts would keep the Bearkats down and Todd Lott would give the Cajuns a little insurance in the top of the ninth with an RBI single that would score Alex Pinero.

Dylan Moore would be credited with the save; his second of the season with three shutout innings, walked one and struck out three on the evening.

The Cajuns will try to clinch the series when they take on the Bearkats again on Saturday with first pitch set for 3 pm.
