Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Drop Opener to UL Monroe

Posted by clintdomingue on May 16, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

All good things must come to an end. That was all too evident on Thursday night when the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns streak of 25 straight wins over UL Monroe was snapped in a 6-3 loss that was highlighted by a big third inning.

How It Happened:

The Warhawks wasted very little team getting on the board with an RBI single by Andrew Beesley in the first to take an early lead. The Cajuns tied things up in the top of the third with a solo shot from Hunter Kasuls, but UL Monroe pulled away with a three-run bomb by Chad Bell.

The Warhawk increased their lead to 6-1 in the fifth with a pair of runs, highlighted by an RBI single from Ryan Humeniuk. Handsome Monica and Orynn Veillon tried to get the Cajuns back in the game with a pair of home runs late in Thursday’s matchup, but it wasn’t enough with Landon Langsworth closing things out in the ninth.

Big Number: 10

The Warhawks pitching staff was solid for the most part and fanning 10 batters was a big key to victory for UL Monroe.

Player of the Game: Tyler Jeans

Jeans was outstanding in seven innings of work, racking up 9 Ks in the process to get his fourth win of the season.

Next Up: Friday vs UL Monroe; First Pitch at 6 pm
