It was a historic night for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns on Tuesday night as they took care of business in the first of two games against the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana by the score of 8-2.
How It Happened:
The Cajuns struck first with an RBI single from Colton Frank in the bottom of the second. Hunter Kasuls followed that up in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer to take a 3-0 lead. Orynn Veillon extended the lead with a sac fly to score Todd Lott.
The Lions finally responded in the top of the fourth with a two-run single from Trey Harrington, but Logan Savoy was able to stop the bleeding. Hayden Cantrelle then gave Louisiana a 5-2 lead in the bottom frame with a solo shot off the foul pole in right field. Later in the inning, Lott made it 6-2 with an RBI single that Kasuls worked for, coming in from first base.
Cantrelle slammed the door shut in the bottom of the eighth when he drilled a two-run single out to center field.
Big Number: 900
Why was the win so historic for the Cajuns? It marked head coach Tony Robichaux’s 900th win as the head coach of the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.
Player of the Game: Logan Savoy
Savoy did exactly what Tony Robichaux needed on Tuesday and that was to go long and save some bullpen arms for either tomorrow or the weekend series against Arkansas State. He really solidified himself as a potential midweek starter, allowing two runs off of two hits and struck out seven in six and two-thirds.
