What a difference five days makes. After losing to Idaho in disappointing fashion, Louisiana was able to get out in front and hold for a 33-26 win over Georgia Southern.
The Eagles started things off with the ball and marched down the field and ended with a 39-yard field goal from Koo to take an early lead.
The Cajuns would respond late in the third quarter with a lengthy drive highlighted by freshman Dion Ray showing off his mobility which would lead to Elijah McGuire pounding it in for the score to make it 7-3.
The Cajuns looked to score again early in the second quarter, but Jordan Davis would fumble the ball in the redzone and it would turn into three points for the Eagles with another field goal from Koo, this time from 27 yards. However, the Cajuns would respond with a lengthy drive that ended with Ray once again showing off his speed with a 16 yard run to go up 14-6.
Georgia Southern would respond on the next drive with freshman Seth Shuman connecting with Myles Campbell for 10 yards to make it a one-point game again.
The Cajuns would extend the lead late in the half with a quick drive that ended with Anthony Jennings doing things on the ground to make it 21-13 at the half.
The Cajuns would extend their lead midway through the third quarter with a 34-yard field goal from Stevie Artigue. It would become 31-13 only a couple minutes later after the defense forced a three-and-out and pulled out a trick play that saw wideout Al Riles connect with a wide open Keenan Barnes for the score.
Georgia Southern would score early in the fourth quarter with a two-yard run by L.A. Ramsby, but it would only amount to six due to an interception from Otha Peters on a fake field goal that was taken to the house gave the Cajuns two points, making it 33-19.
The Eagles would try to fire back after they blocked a punt from Coutts that was stopped short of a touchdown by Karmichael Dunbar. But they would still get one from Ramsby on third and goal. The Cajuns would then put the game away by running out the final four minutes.
The Cajuns (4-5, 3-3 SBC) will have extra time off before taking on the Georgia Bulldogs (5-4) with kickoff set for 11 am.
