After an early back-and-forth, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (9-2) put the pedal to the metal and never let up against the UNO Privateers (2-7) and came away with an 87-65 victory on Saturday night.
The Cajuns were able to get out in front thanks to JaKeenan Gant, who put up 17 of his 21 points in the first half. However, the Privateers chopped away at the Cajuns lead and got it down to four points with 7:23 left in the first half. However, the Cajuns were able to make it 42-35 at the break thanks to some big plays by Gant.
The Cajuns picked up right where they left off in the second half with a 14-4 run to finally get the game into the double digits. While the first half was all Gant, Frank Bartley took the helm to put the game out of reach with all 19 of his points coming in the second half.
The Cajuns will return to action on Tuesday when they host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions (6-5) with tipoff set for 7 pm.
