Louisiana Ragin Cajuns outfielder Maddie Hayden has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week after a stellar performance this past week.
The junior from Monroe had four multi-hit games during the five-game week, batting .600 for the week and .857 during the weekend series against Southern Miss.
Hayden reached base in 9 of her 11 plate appearances against the Golden Eagles this past weekend, including her first plate appearance in each of the three games.
It’s the first career weekly honor for Hayden and the fifth of the season for the program. It’s the 102nd honor since 2000, meaning that the team has had at least one Player and Pitcher of the Week honor each season.
The Cajuns host No. 7 LSU Tuesday before going to Lake Charles to battle McNeese Wednesday.
