LSU has been ranked as the top seed in college baseball by D1Baseball’s preseason poll, which was released Tuesday. This is the third poll to rank the Tigers as the top team in America.
The Tigers were already ranked #1 by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game in the 2023 preseason polls.
According to D1 Baseball, “LSU supercharged its roster with the top-ranked freshman class as well as the top group of transfers. That bolsters a core that was already well stocked with talent.”
LSU is stacked with talent in 2023, with top prospect Dylan Crews leading the charge. Jay Johnson also added the top freshman transfer in Tommy White, who was one of the top homerun hitters in America a year ago.
The Tigers will begin preseason practice on Friday, January 27 with the 2023 season starting on February 17, when LSU hosts Western Michigan in Alex Box Stadium.
LSU is one of nine SEC teams appearing in D1’s Top 25 with No. 2 Tennessee, No. 4 Ole Miss, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Alabama, and No. 23 Alabama.
