The game of baseball is weird sometimes and Friday night was an example of that with the LSU Tigers evening up the series with a convincing 13-1 win after getting crushed just a day earlier.
How It Happened:
LSU struck first when Saul Garza grounded out to shortstop, scoring Cade Beloso and gave them the early edge. Daniel Cabrera kept the momentum going in the bottom of the third with an RBI double down the right field line to make it a 2-0 advantage.
However, the Florida Gators cut the lead down to one run in the fourth inning with Cory Acton hitting a solo shot to right field. The Tigers responded in a big way in the bottom frame with a three-run inning that was highlighted by an RBI single by Antoine Duplantis.
LSU slammed the door shut with a five-run fifth inning that saw Cade Beloso drill one out to right field. The final salvo in Friday night’s offensive explosion came when Cabrera lifted one out to right field for a three-run bomb in the seventh.
Big Number: 12
Cole Henry brought the heat on Friday night, mowing down 12 batters in five and a third of an inning of work to get his fourth win of the season.
Player of the Game: Cole Henry
Henry was on another level allowing only one run and striking out a season-high 12 batters. This was nothing short of impressive by the freshman.
