The Deaf Dome was living up to its name on Saturday afternoon with LSU beating Texas A&M (18-7, 7-5 SEC) 76-71 to hand them their fourth straight loss.
The LSU Tigers started out the first half with all cylinders firing, going up 14-6 early on. But the Aggies responded just as quickly, going on a 7-0 run to cut the lead down to one. The Aggies were able to take the lead late in the half and held onto it the rest of the way and headed into the locker room with a 37-33 lead.
The second half turned into a battle of the heavyweights with both teams trying to land the knockout punch. After getting tied up multiple times in the second half, the Tigers were able to take the lead again off of a Craig Victor hoop and harm and did not relinquish the lead.
Ben Simmons and Craig Victor both ended their afternoons with 16 points a piece. Simmons also had 11 boards, seven assists, one block, and three steals.
Danuel House led the Aggies with 20 points, four boards, and two assists on the afternoon.
The Tigers (16-9, 9-3 SEC) will stay in the PMAC for a Wednesday night showdown against Alabama (14-9, 5-6 SEC) with tipoff set for 8 pm.
