Alex Lange’s performance on Friday night wasn’t enough for the LSU Tigers (30-16, 13-9 SEC) as they fell to South Carolina (26-17, 10-11 SEC) 3-2.
All three of the Gamecocks runs came in the top of the second. Alex Destino got things started with an RBI single. This was followed up by Madison Stokes hitting a two-run single before being tagged out at second.
The Tigers finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with Kramer Robertson hitting a solo shot to left field. LSU got within one in the fifth after Michael Papierski scoring off of a wild pitch.
Zach Watson led off the bottom of the ninth getting walked. He was able to get 90 feet away to tying the game up with a sac bunt from Josh Smith and Cole Freeman grounding out. After Deichmann was intentionally walked, the Tigers hopes were dashed after Jake Slaughter struck out swinging.
Lange dropped to 5-5 on the year after a complete game. The junior allowed three runs off of five hits, walked two, and struck out five on the evening.
LSU will look to even up the series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
