Even after around a two and a half hour rain delay, the LSU Tigers bats were still alive, crushing Southeastern 11-4 on Wednesday night.
LSU got started right away with three runs in the bottom of the first highlighted by a pair of RBI singles by Jordan Romero and Beau Jordan. Cole Freeman made it 4-0 in the bottom of the second scampering home off of a wild pitch.
But the Lions weren’t about to go away quietly responding with three runs in the top of the third, all because of bases loaded walks. After the rain delay, LSU responded with two more runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning. Jordan Romero got another run across in the bottom of the fourth with a sac fly.
Carson Crites got the Lions another run in the top of the fifth with a solo shot, but Greg Deichmann put things away in the bottom of the sixth with a three run shot to right field.
Doug Norman improved to 2-0 throwing two shutout innings in relief.
LSU (26-11) will stay inside the friendly confines of Alex Box Stadium for a three game series against Mississippi State (25-12) with first pitch on Friday set for 7 pm.
