The LSU Tigers were working on all cylinders on Friday night with a 12-1 win over Fordham (3-5).
The Tigers got things started with a monster fourth inning that started with catcher Michael Papierski sending a three-run shot over the right field wall. O’Neal Lochridge increased LSU’s lead to 4-0 later in the inning off of a wild pitch.
Scoring runs in bunches seemed to be a recurring theme for the Tigers; scoring five runs in the sixth. Chris Reid with his first hit in collegiate ball got Bryce Jordan home with a single. LSU got a free run when Kramer Robertson was walked with the bases loaded. When Antoine Duplantis hit one to Fordham’s right fielder, it looked like the inning would be over for the Rams. But when the right fielder couldn’t hold onto the ball, three runs were able to score.
Bryce Jordan helped put the game away when scored off of a wild pitch.
Jared Poche improved to 2-0 on the year, throwing seven shutout innings, allowing eight hits and fanning eight on the evening.
The Tigers (7-2) will wrap up their weekend with a doubleheader with game one starting at 2 pm and the second game scheduled to start at 6:30 pm.
