LSU’s crazy run in the SEC Tournament came to an end in disappointing fashion, but the Tigers likely did more than enough to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament despite a 13-4 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores.
How It Happened:
The Commodores opened things up with a three-run inning in the second thanks to a pair of singles from Ty Duvall and Harrison Ray. Vandy kept it going in the top of the third with a solo shot from JJ Bleday and a bases-loaded walk quickly made it 5-0.
One swing of the bat from Ethan Paul in the fourth really made things fairly one-sided with a two-run bomb to right center field, making it a 7-0 ballgame.
Hal Hughes finally got LSU on the board off of a fielder’s choice that scored Chris Reid in the bottom of the fifth, but the Commodores offense responded with a six-run sixth inning that was highlighted by a three-run bomb from Duvall.
It looked like LSU would be run-ruled on Saturday, but the Tigers were able to make it 13-4 in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by an RBI single from Drew Bianco.
