For much of the second half, it seemed like the South Carolina Gamecocks (15-14, 6-10 SEC) were poised to come away with a decisive win on Wednesday night against LSU (16-12, 7-9 SEC). They were even up by as much as 15 points with 8:08 left in regulation.
However, the Tigers weren’t about to give up and immediately went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead down to 10-0. They kept it within three points in the final minutes and forced overtime with Tremont Waters draining a big three with five seconds left on the clock to knot it up at 72.
Even with all the momentum that LSU built up, they were unable to put it together in overtime, only scoring two points and giving South Carolina an 83-74 win in overtime.
LSU will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they take on Mississippi State (21-9, 9-8 SEC) with tipoff set for 12 pm.
