LSU Falls to Alabama 76-69

Posted by clintdomingue on February 17, 2016 in Latest News

It was the Retin Obasohan show on Wednesday night in the PMAC as the Alabama Crimson Tide (16-9, 7-6 SEC) rallied back in the second half to win their fifth straight by the score of 71-64.

The Tigers took control early on in the first half and kept the Crimson Tide at bay with Keith Hornsby and Craig Victor combining for 24 of LSU’s 36 points in the opening twenty minutes. Another big factor was Alabama being cold from the arc, going 5-for-18 in the first half.

Alabama opened up the first half on a strong note with five straight off of bad possessions by LSU to tie it, but the Tigers were able to keep the Tide away early on. Obasohan began to turn the momentum and helped give the Tide to take the lead with about nine minutes left in regulation.

The Tigers got cold in the second half, shooting 31 percent from the field and that was the deciding factor in the Tigers loss.

Victor led the Tigers with a career-high 21 points, seven boards, two assists, and one steal on the night. Ben Simmons was right behind him with 20 points, nine boards, three assists, and two steals.

Obasahon led the Tide with a career-high 33 points including a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe. The senior guard also had four boards, three assists, and one steal on the night.

The Tigers (16-10, 9-4 SEC) will try and get back on the winning side on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Tennessee (12-13, 5-7 SEC) with tipoff set for 4:30 pm.
