LSU Falters in Rubber Match Against Texas A&M

Posted by clintdomingue on April 7, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

Texas A&M’s (23-9, 5-7 SEC) bats were just too much for LSU (20-13, 6-6 SEC) in the rubber match on Saturday, leading to a 3-1 win for the Aggies.

How It Happened

Texas A&M got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Hunter Coleman blasted one out of Blue Bell Park to give them a 1-0 lead. Things went from bad to worse in the sixth when George Janca hit a two-out, two-run triple down the right field line.

LSU tried to rally in the eighth when Zach Watson hit an RBI single down the right field line, but that was all the Tigers could scratch across on the evening.

Ma’Khail Hilliard dropped to 6-2 on the season allowing three runs off of five hits, walked three, and struck out four in five innings of work.

Big Number: 5

LSU had been hitting pretty consistently over the weekend, but it looked like the power supply the bats were connected to was off the hook on Saturday only getting five hits across.

Player of the Game: Hunter Coleman

One of only two players to have a multi-hit ballgame on the afternoon, Coleman was the spark that the Aggies offense needed with the solo shot out to right field.

Next Up: Host Louisiana Tech Tuesday; First Pitch 6:30 pm
