The bats for LSU (19-9, 5-3 SEC) seemed to have lost some steam in their last two games. That narrative may have changed on Friday night against Texas A&M (18-10, 2-6 SEC).
The Tigers wound up with 13 hits on the night and were able to come away with a 7-4 win to even the series.
The Tigers got on the board with Antoine Duplantis hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Later in the inning, Kramer Robertson got two more runs across with a double to left field.
Josh Smith would make it 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Aggies weren’t going to go away that easily. Walker Pennington would hit a two-run shot in the top of the seventh to cut the lead in half.
The Tigers responded with back-to-back home runs from Robertson and Deichmann to start the bottom of the seventh and that wound up being the deciding factor in the game.
Jared Poche improved to 6-1 on the year allowing two runs off of eight hits, walked two, and struck out six in seven innings of work.
The Tigers will look to win the rubber match on Saturday with first pitch set for 2:30 pm.
