The LSU Tigers basketball team has now won four straight games after their 109-59 win over Northwestern State on Sunday.
How it Happened:
Northwestern State kept it close within the first nine minutes of action. The Demons led 17-15 with 11:17 remaining in the first half. But the Tigers used a 14-2 run to take a 29-19 lead with a little over seven minutes left.
The Tigers defense ramped it up to close the first half by only giving up 15 points after trailing by two points early on. LSU led 52-32 going into the halftime break behind the team’s seven 3-pointers and 13 first half points from Darius Days.
The second half was more of the same for LSU. The Tigers came out the half with a quick 7-0 run. Two free throws by Days gave LSU an 85-47 lead over the Demons with 10:12 left in the game.
LSU cruised to a 50-point win against Northwestern State as James Bishop capped off the big win with a fast break layup in the final 30 seconds.
Big Number: 21
It would have been easy to make this number 50 because of the final result, but LSU’s defense forced Northwestern State into 21 turnovers in the blowout win. The Tigers garnered 11 steals and converted 36 points off their mistakes.
Player of the Game: Javonte Smart
Smart led the team in scoring with 17 points and he filled up the box score on both ends of the court. Smart recorded eight rebounds, three assists and three steals to extend LSU’s winning streak.
