LSU Gets Hot From the Field, Takes Down Vandy

Posted by clintdomingue on February 20, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

The LSU Tigers (16-11, 7-8 SEC) are really starting to make the PMAC a place that opponents need to fear again after winning their fifth straight inside the friendly confines on Tuesday night against Vanderbilt (11-17, 5-10 SEC) 88-78.

One of the big reasons for LSU’s double-digit win was because of the efficiency from the field, shooting 62 percent on the evening. After an early back and forth, the Tigers started to establish a lead with 6:10 left in the first half after a layup from Wayde Sims. The Commodores tried to fight back late, but were down by double digits at the break thanks to star freshman Tremont Waters draining one from three as the first half ended.

The Tigers shooting got even better as the second half started, making five of their first six shots from the field, including a pair of threes from Skylar Mays. However, Vandy started to rally back and got the deficit down to 66-60 with 8:18 left in regulation. It wasn’t enough as LSU was able to put the game out of reach thanks to some solid shooting from the charity stripe.

The Tigers will hit the road on Saturday when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs (15-11, 6-8 SEC) with tipoff set for 1 pm.
