If not for the long ball on Friday night, LSU (34-17, 17-9 SEC) might have been in some trouble against Auburn (32-20, 14-12 SEC).

However, LSU was able to get some production out of their offense late to come away with a 5-3 win. Kramer Robertson put LSU on the board in the bottom of the third when he grounded out to get Michael Papierski home safely.

Zach Watson extended the lead with a two-run shot to left field in the fifth. However, Auburn responded with a run in the sixth off of a sac fly and tied things up with two runs in the seventh capped off by an RBI single from Jonah Todd.

In the bottom of the seventh, Papierski was the deciding factor with a two-run shot to right field.

Zack Hess improved to 6-1 on the season allowing one run off two hits. The freshman walked one and struck out two in one and a third innings of work.

Hunter Newman got his eighth save of the season striking out one and allowing a lone hit in the 9th.

LSU will look to complete the series sweep on Saturday with first pitch set for noon.
